Neil's Weekly Question Round-Up - Week 3

The feedback from the scoresheets for WEEK 3 was as follows:

SCORES:

Winners:

8: Kippax Legionnaires

7: Carleton Grangers, Olde Tavern Allsorts, The Other Team, Thatched House, The Vic

Non-winners:

8: Featherstone Phoenix

7: Golden Lion Dudes

6: Flanagan’s Army, Olde Taverners

COMMENTS:

Carleton Grangers: A mixture of hard + accessible.

Golden Lion Dudes: “Tough questions” – the last round.

[‘Composers’ was the theme of the last round, and produced an average score per team of just over 6, which is certainly on the low side. In the Thatched House/Kings Arms match, though, the round was 10-10.]

The Vic: Pleasant evening.

Featherstone Phoenix: Good mix of questions, great opponents.

Kippax Legionnaires: Round 10 – 4A: Night on the ‘Bare’ Mountain disallowed.

Olde Taverners: There were a couple of badly worded questions tonight.

Olde Tavern Allsorts: Night on Bare Mountain is another translation.

[The Mussorgsky work was given on the sheet as Night on Bald Mountain, but is often known as Night on the Bare Mountain (the latter translation is apparently more common in the UK, and the former in the US). Both the Olde Tavern Allsorts and Kippax Legionnaires were ultimately given the points for Bare Mountain, though at least one other team wasn’t.]

Thatched House: Not as fun as previous.

The Other Team: Much better than last week.

STATISTICS:

There were two answers from the verbal team rounds that were not got by anyone in the FTQL on the night:

Anna Lindh (Swedish Foreign Minister assassinated in 2003)

Pomelo (Citrus fruit also known as shaddock)
