Neil's Weekly Question Round-Up - Week 2

The feedback from the scoresheets for WEEK 2 was as follows:

SCORES:

Winners:

8: Kippax Legionnaires

7: Olde Tavern Allsorts, Olde Taverners

5: Carleton Grangers

Non-winners:

7: Featherstone Phoenix, The Vic

6: Golden Lion Dudes

5: The Other Team

COMMENTS:

Carleton Grangers: Hard quiz.

The Other Team: Too many obscure questions.

Olde Taverners: Well balanced, interesting varied rounds but much harder than last week.

[The average score was 73 in week 1, and 67 this week.]

The Vic: Exciting game, but poor balance in first two rounds.

[The Vic, who played ‘B’, received five questions in those rounds (Religion and Wars/Battles) that neither team answered correctly, but their opponents only received one. Similar figures were seen in other matches.]

Featherstone Phoenix: Average.

Golden Lion Dudes: Not too pleased about the John Madden question on sport. Could be a John Madden in any sport.

[There could be – and there is! There is a Canadian ice hockey player called John Madden, who has won the Stanley Cup three times. There is even an Irish hurler (i.e. hurling player) called John Madden. The question simply asked for the sport in which John Madden is a famous name. The American football coach to which the question referred is the most famous one, however, and has

video games bearing his name.]

STATISTICS:

All questions in the six verbal team rounds were answered somewhere on the night. The Thatched House/Flanagan’s Army match only failed to answer three questions, two of which were only answered correctly elsewhere by The Other Team:

19 (Chanel perfume launched in 1971, in addition to No. 5)

Suga (BTS member caught driving scooter while drunk in Seoul)
